Nora Curl He has a long history with antiques, both as an appraiser and appreciator.
The 52-year-old man was antique shopping with her parents when she was a child. She studied fine and decorative arts in Christie’s graduate program and later worked in magazines, in galleries and as an assistant to artist Nelson Shanks.
In 2012 he started working on just answer Conducting online valuations of antiques. The site allows users to ask relevant questions to a variety of experts, such as lawyers and veterinarians, and the experts are paid for each answer they give. Curl quickly began making money on the site and now works on it seven days a week, about three to four hours a day, averaging five questions an hour, he says.
In 2022, he made six figures on site. In 2024, he was earning up to $8,700 a month.
When it comes to career advice Curl would give to anyone looking for success in 2025, it’s to find “that niche that really keeps you going and makes you money.”
‘I received that advice in 2014’
Curl’s former boss at Fine Art Connoisseur magazine gave him the same advice a decade ago. “You need to find one thing,” she says he told her, “a lane that you like and that you’re good at, and that lane that makes you the most money.”

It took a while for Curl to pay attention to his words. In the meantime, he tried buying and selling antiques online and getting appraisals done on multiple platforms. But “I was trying really hard,” he says. And he quickly realized where he was earning the most.
Shipping a package of an item he sold for $30 on eBay took time. Meanwhile, he thought: “I missed 10 questions that came [on JustAnswer] and could have won more than $100.”

“I got that advice in 2014,” he says of focusing on one lane. “I didn’t take it until 2017.”
“I think trying a lot of things” is key
When it comes to figuring out the best way to make money, Curl recommends starting with some trial and error.
“I think trying a lot of things, making a lot of mistakes and learning lessons is part of how you become successful,” he says. It was trying all those different websites that helped her find JustAnswer as the best way to go. Many successful entrepreneurs go through similar periods of trial and error.
Once you get close to that promising, high-paying job, the only step left, Curl says, is to “have the courage and the will to let go of everything else.”
