Rapper Lil Durk has been taken into federal custody after being arrested overnight in Florida, authorities said.
The Chicago-based rapper had just held at the city’s United Center over the weekend for a birthday party event.
Now, jail records show he was arrested by U.S. Marshals between Thursday night and early Friday.

Why was Lil Durk arrested?
The arrest of the rapper, whose real name is Devontay Durk Banks, was made in Broward County, Florida, on charges associated with a murder-for-hire plot.
According to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Marshals detained Banks “and held him at our facility.”
“He has since been released into their custody,” the sheriff’s office said.
Banks’ murder-for-hire charges come as five members of the Chicago-based “Only the Family” group, or OTF, with which Banks has associations, were charged as co-conspirators in a murder-for-hire plot. in Los Angeles, California. .

However, it was not immediately clear whether Banks’ arrest was related to that case.
What to know about the OTF indictment
According to the indictment, the men allegedly beat rapper Quando Rondo in retaliation for the shooting death of another Chicago rapper, King Von, who was part of OTF and collaborated with Lil Durk on music.
The grand jury indicts OTF members Kavon London Grant, known as “Cuz” or “Vonnie”, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, known as “DeDe”, Asa Houston, known as “Boogie”, and five unnamed conspirators, as well as to Keith Jones. known as “Flacka”, and David Brian Lindsey, known as “Browneyez”, who are described as “members of other groups in Chicago”.
According to the indictment, on November 6, 2020, an OTF member described only as “DB” was in a “physical altercation with TB at a nightclub in Atlanta, Georgia. During the fight, a TB associate produced a gun and shot DB several times, killing him.” While authorities did not name DB in the indictment, rapper King Von, whose real name was Dayvon Bennett, was murdered on the same date. NBC News reported at the time. Another man, Mark Blakely, 34, also died in the shooting and four others were wounded. The Atlanta Journal Constitution reported.
After DB’s murder, someone described as “co-conspirator 1” used coded language to make clear that he would “pay a monetary reward or reward, and/or make a payment to anyone who participated in killing TB for their role in the murder.” from DB.”
Then, on August 18, 2022, upon learning that TB was staying at a Los Angeles hotel, Wilson, Jones, Lindsey, Houston, Grant and co-conspirator 2 traveled to California from Illinois to “track, stalk and attempt kill”. TB from gunshots, even with a fully automatic firearm.â
The men followed TB’s black Escalade to a gas station on Beverly Boulevard and fired multiple bullets into the truck, resulting in the death of SR, a passenger in TB’s vehicle, documents state.
The indictment against the five men is on charges of conspiracy and use of interstate facilities to commit murder for hire resulting in death, use of carrying and firing firearms and machine guns, possession of said firearms in furtherance of a crime of violence resulting in death, machine gun possession, and criminal seizure.
The documents said Wilson paid the reward to co-conspirators.
It is not immediately clear if the men hired lawyers.
