‘They said the police had ordered them to close the pub. Then they let us all out the back door, but we were able to take a look at the street.

‘I saw three police cars, five police officers and a small silver tent. Police were cordoning off the area. We’re in another pub now. The entire area is cordoned off. It seems so surreal.”

Another witness said: ‘The police just turned up and started putting up tape. Whatever it is, it seems pretty serious. Anyway, there don’t seem to be any cars inside the cordon.
