Amarillo ISD discusses next steps following elementary school closures

AMARILLO, Texas (KEYU) – Following Amarillo ISD’s decision to close three campuses next fallstudents will have to consolidate with six other schools in the district.

Park Hills, Pleasant Valley and Sunrise elementary schools will be closed at the end of the 2024-2025 school year.

This comes after several AISD campuses continued to experience a steady decline in enrollment.

The three elementary schools will be consolidated with other elementary schools in August 2025:

  • Park Hills to consolidate with George Washington Carver and Rogers Elementary
  • Pleasant Valley will be consolidated with George Washington Carver Elementary, Hamlet Elementary and Mesa Verde Elementary.
  • Sunrise to consolidate with Humphrey’s and Oak Dale elementary schools

Amarillo ISD issued the following statement:

Amarillo ISD says it has no further plans at this time for the soon-to-be vacant buildings.
