Amtrak’s new Chicago to Miami train begins next month. Here’s how long it takes, and how much it costs

You can request a ride from Chicago to Miami on an Amtrak train starting next month.

According to AmtrakThe “Floridian” line will begin in Chicago and make stops in Cleveland, Washington DC, Orlando and Tampa before reaching its final stop in Miami.

According to officials, the route was started by combining the Capitol Limited and Silver Star lines.

Routes are being combined due to to a massive East River tunnel rehabilitation project, Both tunnels needed repairs after Superstorm Sandy hit the northeastern US in 2012.

When does Amtrak service from Chicago to Miami begin?

Rides will be available starting Nov. 10, according to Amtrak, and will be offered daily.

When can you buy tickets?

According to an Amtrak press release, Customers can now purchase tickets on the “Floridian” line.

Amtrak Schedule from Chicago to Miami

The “Floridian” line will operate on a schedule similar to the Capitol Limited between Chicago and Washington, DC, and will make stops between Washington, DC, and Miami that the Silver Star normally makes, according to Amtrak.

The trip on the Floridian will take nearly 48 hours to complete, according to Amtrak.

How much are the tickets?

Economy class seats start at just over $100 for the trip, with private rooms available starting at $700.

According to Amtrak, bus tickets include wide, reclining seats with legroom, no center seat, and windows.

“Private First Class Rooms” will add a limited number of dining car meals. Some rooms offer two reclining seats that convert to beds at night, plus access to a shower, while others offer more space, an in-room bathroom and a shower. Each room has two-level windows, a sink, and a “dedicated attendant who provides turndown service, helps with meals, helps with luggage, and shares great stories from life on the rails.”

Is food included?

According to Amtrak, the dining car will include things like French toast, omelettes, grilled cheese, burgers, vegan chili, steak, salmon, pastas and more, all of which are included in private room tickets.

There is also a cafeteria service with the sale of snacks and drinks.
