Car connected to deadly shooting found ablaze in Nutbush

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – A car linked to a deadly shooting was found on fire in the Nutbush area Sunday night.

According to the Memphis Police Department, a man was found dead with apparent gunshot wounds in the 3500 block of Paul R. Lowery Road shortly after midnight Sunday morning.

Five suspects were arrested, but all have since been released without charge.

At 8:49 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to the area of ​​Davis Circle and Berkshire Avenue, where a car was found on fire.

MPD originally reported that a body was found inside this car.

A department spokesperson now says there was no one in the vehicle. They corrected the narrative, saying this incident was related to the homicide on Paul R. Lowery Road 21 hours earlier.

It is unclear at this time whether or not the vehicle belonged to the victim.

As of Monday afternoon, no arrests had been made in this case.
