HERNANDO, Miss. (WMC) – A DeSoto County inmate is accused of assaulting a jailer.
John Riles was involved in the altercation with the jailer. on November 14.
Riles shot the jailer with a stun gun, causing him minor injuries. The jailer was treated for his injuries and Riles was charged for his actions.
District Attorney Matthew Barton highlighted the seriousness of the charges and his office’s commitment to protecting law enforcement and first responders.
Riles, who was already jailed on separate charges, now faces additional charges of assaulting a law enforcement officer.
