A teenager died and six others were injured after an accident between two cars.

The fatal accident occurred in the north. Cornwall between St Tudy and St Breward on Friday night.

Emergency services were called to the scene after an accident involving two black Seat Ibizas was reported at a junction at around 11.15pm.

The cars had collided at the B3266 junction known as the St Brewards (St Tudy) bypass and Camelford bypass (Wenford Bridge).

A 19-year-old man, who was riding in the front passenger seat, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed, Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed.

Six injured people were rushed to hospital. His injuries are believed to be minor.

Now an 18-year-old man from Bodmin has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and careless driving while impaired by alcohol and drugs.

He was released on bail pending further investigations.

The highway was closed for 14 hours following the fatal crash while officers carried out an investigation on Saturday before the crossing was reopened.

Footage shows debris strewn across the intersection that had been cordoned off.

The weather in the area was partly cloudy, with a temperature of around 10°C at the time of the accident.

The force has asked witnesses it has not yet spoken to or those with dashcam footage to come forward to come forward via its website or by calling 101.
