Walmart Says Customers Should Discard Recalled Chicken Broth

NEW YORK—Walmart says customers should throw out a chicken broth product that was sold in stores mostly in Southern states late last year.

The retailer recalled 48-ounce boxes of Great Value family-size chicken broth that were sold in 242 stores in nine states.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reported in December that the recall affected just over 2,000 boxes of broth with a shelf life until March 2026. The FDA said the containers had packaging problems that could causing the broth to spoil. There have been no reports of illness.

Walmart says anyone who purchased the product in stores in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee or Texas should not consume the broth and can request a full refund. The company said it is working with the supplier to investigate.
